2024 Fire Season
2024 Fire Season Information: www.fire.ca.gov/incidents
While wildfires are a natural part of California’s landscape, the fire season in California and across the West starts earlier and ends later each year. Climate change is considered a key driver of this trend. Warmer spring and summer temperatures, reduced snowpack, and earlier spring snowmelt create longer and more intense dry seasons that increase moisture stress on vegetation and make forests more susceptible to severe wildfire. The 2024 fire season in California presents a mixed scenario due to diverse climatic conditions. January is likely to see above normal precipitation in the north, shifting to below normal from February to March. See www.nifc.gov/nicc-files/predictive/outlooks/monthly_seasonal_outlook.pdf.

CTH Firewise Initiative
In May 2021, CTH NRG applied for CTH Firewise site recognition in partnership with FIRESafe MARIN. Our application was successful and CTH became a Firewise Community on July 14, 2021. Be sure to check with your insurance company to see if living in a Firewise community qualifies you for a discount and be sure to take the Firewise Pledge. See our Firewise tab for additional information.
PREVENTION: DEFENSIBLE SPACE & HARDENING YOUR HOME
We urge CTH residents to continue all possible efforts to ensure that you have defensible space around your home and that your home is hardened to withstand embers that ignite fires. For excellent advice and guidance please see the Firesafe Marin website: www.firesafemarin.org/defensible-space | www.firesafemarin.org/home-hardening.
