Given the Bay Area's natural disaster profile and based on current predictions, it is highly likely that a major disaster will occur in the Bay Area at some point in the future. Christmas Tree Hill is very susceptible to wildfires and earthquakes and so in 2017 a group of concerned residents formed the Christmas Tree Hill Neighborhood Response Group—a grassroots initiative designed to assist residents to be as prepared as possible to respond to emergencies and disasters. The CTH NRG joins in this initiative with many other Bay Area communities that have created NRGs to prepare residents and assist first responders should the need arise. Disaster history highlights the fact that in a major disaster public safety officials and first responders are initially overwhelmed and that there is inevitably a delay in the delivery of vitally needed aid and services and therefore we must be prepared to be as self-sufficient as possible for anywhere from 2 to 5 five days. The primary goal of the NRG program is to assist neighborhoods to be as prepared as possible, so that residents can effectively and rapidly evacuate high risk areas with or without help from public safety officials. 

Based on the principle of neighbor helping neighbor, each neighborhood makes its own plan, engages its own volunteers, identifies its own resources, and periodically conducts drills for its own team. This website exists to support the efforts of the CTH NRG volunteers and the residents of CTH to prepare for and recover from a disaster.

Christmas Tree Hill is an amazing, forested, lush place to call home.  We neighbors should know each other and ensure we each have a family plan as well as a neighborhood plan in place for when disaster strikes.
